How to: Change default bullet symbol when formatting text.
Solution:
Use the 'Style' option from the Format menu and select 'List Bullet' from the 'Styles' menu.
1) Select the 'Format' menu and select 'Style...'. (The Style dialog box appears.)
2) Select 'All Styles' from the 'List' drop-down list box.
3) Select 'List Bullet' from the 'Styles' menu.
4) Click 'Modify...'. (The Modify Bullet List dialog box appears.)
5) Select the 'Add to Template' check box. (This will ensure that the new default bullet will be used on any new documents created with the current template.)

6) Click 'Format...' drop-down list button.
7) Select 'Numbering...'.
Select Numbering...
8) Click 'Bulleted' tab.
9) Do one of the following:
a) Click one of the displayed bullet styles
b) Customize the bullet style.
1] Click 'Modify...'.
2] Do one of the following:
a] Click a bullet style.
b] Select a new bullet style.
1} Click 'Bullet...'. (The Symbol dialog box appears.)
2} Click a symbol from the symbol palette to replace the bullet as the default symbol.
3} Click 'OK'.
c] (Optional) Select a new point size by clicking on the up and down arrow on the 'Point Size' list box.
d] (Optional) Click a new bullet color from the 'Color' drop-down list box.
e] Click 'OK'.
3] Click 'OK'.
10) Click 'Apply'.
